23.1 Introduction

Chaos is common in nature. e earliest discovery of chaotic behavior can be casted back to Poincare,

a

French

mathematician

in

the

nineteenth

century.

In

his

study

of

celestial

mechanics

of

conservative

system,

Poincare

found

that

some

solutions

of

a

deterministic

dynamic

were

unpredictable.

But

the

research

work

on

chaos

is

usually

said

to

begin

with

Lorenz

American

meteorologist.
