Good intelligence begins with commanders clearly identifying their intel-
ligence concerns and needs. Designed to support sta estimates and mili-
tary decision-making, Intelligence Preparation of the Battleeld (IPB) is a
systematic, continuous process of analyzing the threat and environment in
a specic geographic area. e IPB process helps the commander selectively
apply and maximize combat power at critical points in time and space on
