Calendars from Microsoft Entourage X and 2004

The Mac OS X version of Microsoft’s Entourage email, address book, and calendar program also works with the iPod, but its calendar events pose a bit of a challenge.

To set up Palm2iPod, click the second iPod icon as shown here, which opens the iPod Export Preferences dialog box. Choose your iPod’s drive letter, and click OK.When you’re ready to export, click the first iPod icon. All of your Palm contacts and calendars are sent to the iPod in one thunderous mouse click.

To copy events out of the Palm Desktop Date Book in Windows, select the items you want to move and choose File → Export vCal. Give your event file a name in the resulting dialog box, and then click Export. Save the file into the iPod’s Calendars folder–or drag it there from wherever you saved the file.

While Entourage kindly offers a File Export Contacts command, there’s no similar Export Calendars command. You can drag each calendar event out of the Entourage window and into the iPod’s Calendars folder one at a time, but your great-grandchildren will have to finish the job for you.

Solution 1: iCal

Weirdly enough, one way to solve the problem is not to use Entourage at all. Instead, send your data on a detour to iCal (page 210). Within iCal, choose File ...
