So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
When do you analyze a heap dump
Despite the many benefits that heap dump analysis can provide, it is not recommended for programmers to analyze heap dumps in every Java heap issue or problem. This is because performing heap dump analysis is a lengthy and time-consuming task and can lead to unnecessary disruptions in Java applications or programs.
Programmers should conduct heap dump analysis only in the following scenarios:
- Troubleshooting Java leaks in heap memory and classloader memory
- Understanding and tuning the application or program along with the surrounding memory footprint of the Java EE container or API
