The exact moment of GC remains undefined, which is the main reason for causing stalls through a program operation. Some environments cannot tolerate even minor stalls, such as interactive programs, which make it difficult to efficiently employ GC in Java.
GC is significantly improved in the new collector, which is explained later in this detailed article. It works the most on background elements by selecting different threads that are marked for collection during application processing. Programs with large quantities of objects may still produce a slow resolve during a GC event.
