I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The world of heap
Each time JVM starts, it gets some memory from the underlining operating system. It is separated into two distinct regions called heap space and Permgen. These are home to all your application's resources. And as always with all good things in life, this home is limited in size. This size is set during the JVM initialization; however, you can increase or decrease this by specifying the JVM parameters, -Xmx, and -XX:MaxPermSize.
The heap size is divided into two areas, the nursery or young space and the old space. As the name suggests, the young space is home to new objects.
