What is a heap dump

A heap dump is a collection of memory processes in the Java heap system. It is a snapshot of all Java classes and objects up to the point the snapshot is made. A heap dump does not determine the allocation of memory; rather, it provides information on a range of useful information such as the following:

• Java objects in terms of fields, classes, references, and primitive values
• Garbage collection objects or roots that can be accessed outside the heap system, such as threads, JNI, and Java locals
• Thread related stacks and data
