Basic rules of the game
Two players, black and white, alternately place a stone of their color in an empty (intersecting) point of the grid drawn on the goban. Normally Nero moves first; in case of a handicap game, when one of the two players is much stronger than the other, the weaker takes black and has two or more handicap stones on the goban, and Bianco moves first. The official grid consists of 19 × 19 lines, but the rules apply to all grids; once played, a stone cannot be moved to a different place.
