In this chapter, you studied the configuration of a large ISP network. Clearly, the configurations for implementing and enforcing a routing policy can become quite involved. Nevertheless, through careful planning and the use of scalability features within IGP, BGP, QoS, and multicast configurations, high-end routers can aggregate hundreds of customers. Backbone routers will be able to support hundreds of peers, and the network itself can consist of thousands—even millions—of routers. The Internet itself is proof of this.
