Using the statistical identity of your data to determine a narrative

In Chapter 13, Exploring and Processing Your Data, we covered how to determine the statistical identity of your data. The general idea is to look at as many tables and their columns as you can to get a good idea of what your data looks like and what it means so that you can tell a story about your data.

To give you an idea of something you could look for to determine a narrative, you can execute the following query:

USE lahmansbaseballdb;SELECT f.pos, FORMAT(AVG(salary),0) as averagesalaryFROM salaries s INNER JOIN fielding f ON f.playerid = s.playeridAND f.yearid = s.yearidGROUP BY posORDER BY averagesalary;
