A left outer join includes all rows from the left table and any matching rows between the left and right tables. The following Venn diagram shows in gray the rows that would be returned with two tables:

If there are no rows in Table B that match Table A, only rows from Table A will be returned. Rows returned from Table A that don't have any matching rows in Table B will show null values for the columns in Table B.
