Image of Jim Cramer, who began his career with the Minnesota Society of Architects in 1978, and is chairman emeritus of the DFC; a Richard Upjohn Fellow of the AIA, and senior fellow of the DFC.

Jim Cramer, Hon. AIA, Hon IIDA, CAE, began his career with the Minnesota Society of Architects in 1978. He was named president of CACE in 1982 and served on the National AIA Board from 1982 to 1994; the last six years as its EVP/CEO. In 1994, with Dr. Jonas Salk, he cofounded the Design Futures Council and its journal, DesignIntelligence. He is chairman emeritus of the DFC; a Richard Upjohn Fellow of the AIA, and senior fellow of the DFC. He has served as strategic advisor and board member to several dozen of the world's leading AEC organizations. He is author of six books, including Design Plus Enterprise: Seeking a New Reality in Architecture. Today he teaches courses on the business of architecture and on leadership development. In this reflection, he refocuses us on learning from the best.
