In this use case chapter, we turn our attention to computer and video games. Games have of course been studied for a long time and in their own right within the field of game studies, but they are now beginning to be picked up for analysis in fields closer to multimodal research as well. For instance, in an introduction to a recent book that explores the discourse analysis of video games, Gee (2015: 1) notes that game studies has not shown much interest in discourse analysis, that is, analysing games as a form of communication.
