Industrial sensors are often geographically dispersed and situated in remote locations. Along with low power availability, this has led to predominantly wireless (cellular, Wi-Fi, and satellite) and RF-based sensor networks. For the monitoring and management of distributed services such as heat, water, and electricity in large-scale SCADA systems, GPRS/3G modem connections are used (wireless sensor networks (WSN)) for transport, which makes these WSN vulnerable to unauthorized public access.
