It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
We can use the stat command to get detailed information about a file. When a file is renamed, stat tells us the time of the change. It also gives information about multiple files at the same time using wildcards with the command.
Stat works on directories and file systems as well. In the case of a file system, stat can display its status using the -f option.
