It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In this chapter you learned how to build the next generation of web applications using Silverlight 2 and the ASP.NET MVC framework. Though these technologies don't replace traditional ASP.NET Web Forms, they do open up new ways to build web applications that may better suit the objectives of your solution.
The Microsoft Silverlight Tools for Visual Studio 2008 enable you to develop Rich Internet Applications with Silverlight 2 that are written in the language of your choice and leverage the power of the .NET Framework. The ASP.NET MVC framework provides a way to cleanly separate your application into Model, View, and Controller parts, thus enabling better testability and giving you more control over the behavior and output produced by your web application.
