18.3 EXCITATION TABLES
Till now we have seen when the inputs and present state of the flip-flops are known, we can determine the next state to which the flip-flop would go after the occurrence of the clock pulse using the characteristic table. The excitation tables are used to determine the inputs of the flip-flop when the present state and the next state to which the flip-flop goes after the occurrence of the clock pulse are known.
