2 Data processing systems and expert systems both rely on stored
information. In the former, the information is held as data in records
and fields, whereas in the latter it is organized as facts and rules. Both,
however, can be of value to management in helping it decide what to
produce.
From the manager's point of view, the main differences between the
two systems are that they are looking at different types of knowledge,
and they present their findings in different
