the figure. The speed of rotation is 25 revolutions per second in the
PAL system, and 30rps in NTSC systems, so in one revolution
each head lays down a track scanning one field of a video frame, the
two tracks together giving one complete interlaced frame.
The audio part of the signal is recorded along the length of the
video tape, at one edge, and the field sync pulse controlling the
running of the tape is recorded along the other edge. These tracks
