Communications
How do electromagnetic communications work?
The communications process involves three stages:
1 the conversion of information, i.e. data, text, image, or voice, to
electromagnetic signals
2 the transmission of these signals to a receiving device
3 the conversion of the signals back to information (data, text, image,
or voice).
The equipment used for these three stages for each type of
communications is as follows.
Local communications
All that is needed in this case is suitable cabling connecting up the
computers and other equipment that are to communicate, and
communications software to pass files between them.
