Replication Server may be used to maintain a backup copy (warm standby) of an Adaptive Server database that applications can switch to in the event of a hardware crash, software error, or maintenance to the primary database. The warm standby system consists of state-consistent active and standby Adaptive Server databases connected by a single Replication Server. Latency between the active and standby databases is the difference in time between when transactions were applied at the active database and when they reach the standby database.
