About the Author

Having grown up in New York City, Sheryl still bears traces of her accent, which is very apparent when she says the word “coffee” (or as she pronounces it, cough-ee). Sheryl stayed in New York with her husband while raising two sons, and then she became a transplanted New Yorker and moved to Boston, Massachusetts.
Sheryl became a skillful communicator because she was raised by a mother who was a stickler for communicating impeccably and spelling precisely. When she was a mere four years old, her mother taught her how to spell antidisestablishmentarianism and schizophrenia. She paraded Sheryl around like a show dog, bidding her to spell those words for anyone who’d listen. The communicating impeccably part resulted in Sheryl’s stunning 25+-year career as a business communications expert — although spelling those words didn’t yield her anything.
Sheryl’s career has spanned writing technical documents, directing marketing and public relations campaigns, facilitating writing workshops, scripting video productions, and writing books. She’s fiercely committed to helping people engage their learners, cutting writing time by 30-50 percent, and delivering key information at a glance with strong visual impact.
Writing isn’t just Sheryl’s craft; it’s her passion. One day she hopes to write the great American novel, but in the meantime, she’s written 27 books for business ...
