2.3.1.2.3 Satin Weave
A weave where binding places arranged to produce a smooth fabric surface
free from twill lines is called satin. The “harness” number used in the desig-
nation (typically 4, 5, and 8) is the total number of yarns crossed and passed
under, before the yarn repeats the pattern. The ve-end satin is most fre-
quently used for technical applications for providing rm fabric although
having moderate cover factor. Satin weaves are very at, have good wet-out,
and a high degree of drape. The low crimp gives good mechanical proper-
