12.1.2.1.7 Particle Concentration Efciency
For the various grades of high-efciency air lters (HEPA, ULPA, etc.), par-
ticle concentration efciencies are measured and expressed in terms of differ-
ences between upstream and downstream concentrations of submicrometer
particles determined by continuous online monitoring. While the concept is
simple, the practical reality tends to be complex because of the sophisticated
technique and equipment required both to generate consistently suitable
