8.5.3 Rope Elongation
Elongation reects the ability of a rope to extend under the application of
load. All types of ropes elongate, when loaded. Low elongation ropes are
generally called static ropes. It is important for static ropes to have minimal
elongation and maximum strength. The ropes meant for mountain climbing
