7.3.4 Carcass Constructions
Conveyor belt fabric is made of warp yarns that run lengthwise and weft
yarns or lling, which run transversely. Four types of weave patterns are
commonly used: plain weave, straight-warp weave, solid-woven weave, and
woven-cord weave.
1. Plain weave: Most belt carcasses are formed with a plain weave,
that is, the warp and weft yarns alternating across each other. Since
the warp yarns are the tension- or load-carrying members, the fab-
