DXF (Drawing Exchange Format) is a common CAD (Computer-Aided Design) format used for plans and technical drawings in software such as AutoCAD. HPGL is a primitive vector format used by some Hewlett-Packard plotters. Inkscape has some native support for exporting to these formats, limited to paths and shapes only; the DXF or HPGL files it exports can then be sent to a plotter or a vinyl cutting device.
