So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
14.2 The Pencil Tool
The Pencil tool (

) is very similar to the Pen tool and shares most of the same controls. Its primary difference is that with the Pencil, you don’t have to worry about nodes or handles; you just draw a freehand line and Inkscape approximates it with a path.
