GLOSSARY
Ableism: A prejudiced attitude toward disabled or neurodivergent people; a system that places value on people’s bodies and minds based on societally constructed ideas of normalcy, intelligence, attractiveness, and/or productivity.
Accessibility: The “ability to access” the functionality, system, or entity. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e., unassisted) and “indirect access” (i.e., compatibility with a person’s assistive technology—for example, computer screen readers).
Accommodation (US) or Adjustment (UK): A modification to various aspects of work to meet employee needs. Reasonable accommodation considers employers’ resources in providing accommodation.
