RDSはデータベース専用のインスタンスであり、DBエンドポイント
と呼ばれるアドレスが作成後に自動的に割り当てられます。EC2 などとの
接続に必須となりますが、例えば、「database-awsnosikumi.xxxxxxxx.ap-
northeast-1.rds.amazonaws.com」のような完全修飾ドメイン名で表示さ
れます。
DBエンドポイントはDBインスタンスに接続するために必須のアドレ
スで、EC2 などのRDSを利用するサービスからは、特定のデータベース
ポートを経由して対象のアドレスに接続して、リレーショナルデータベ
ースの命令文を実行できます（図 7-7）。
DBエンドポイントやデータベースポートは RDSの接続に欠かせない
ので、RDSの作成ならびに利用に際しては注意して進める必要があり
ます。
自ら指定する接続に必須の項目
同じように 重 要 な 項 目とし て 、 マスターユーザー名があります。マスターユ
ーザー名は、DBインスタンスの作成者や管理者の任意の名前ですが、マスタ
ーパスワードとともに、接続の際に必要です。こちらはユーザーが決めることが
できます 。
さらに、3-12でも少し 触 れましたが、 セキュリティグ ル ー プ （9-4 参照）
で作成した RDS インスタンスと接続したい特定の EC2インスタンスなどの IP アド
レスを明らかにしてセキュアな接続を定義します（図 7-8）。
