システムの運用管理といえば、運用監視とシステムを安定稼働させるた
めの管理や障害が発生した場合の復旧などがあり、いずれも重要な業務で
す。

点から一般的な運用管理を整理するとITサービスコントロールとも呼ば
れていますが、図1-11のようにインフラ管理、システム管理、個別ユー
ザー向けなどのように多岐にわたります。
AWSではそれらと同様に、システムの裏側では運用管理のサービスが
実行されていて、もちろん、ユーザー側からも確認できるサービスが提
供されています。
AWSでの運用管理サービス
Amazon CloudWatch は、AWSで利用する IT リソースの運用監視を
行うサービスです。それぞれのリソースのモニタリングをはじめとする管
理を行っています。例えば、CPUの使用率、ストレージの使用量、ネッ
トワークの利用状況などが挙げられますが、これらはシステムの運用管理
では基本ともいえる管理の項目です（図1-12）。
