To recap, a competitive strategy indicates a broad direction of travel. The choice of strategy indicates what capabilities we need to develop and what structures, systems and culture would enable these capabilities to thrive. These in turn inform the choice of initiatives, projects and experiments. The effectiveness of any particular initiative should be enhanced through synergies that develop across a set of initiatives. These synergies are more likely to be realised where the selection of initiatives is guided by a clear strategy.
