Earned Schedule

Earned value cost metrics, such as cost variance (CV) and cost performance index (CPI), are intuitively obvious and informative of the condition of a project both during execution and when the project is completed. Derived measures, such as estimate at completion (EAC) and estimate to complete (ETC), likewise provide actionable information during a project and at the end.

EV schedule metrics, however, being in currency, are not intuitively obvious to most users and become absolutely misleading during the last half or two-thirds of a project.
