LIST partitioning
This option is very similar to RANGE partitioning, except partitions are selected on the basis of columns corresponding to a set of discrete values.
So, what is the main difference between RANGE and LIST? When dealing with list partitioning, rather than basing the partition definition and selection on a value from a group of interval values, it is based on a column value from one of the lists of value groups.
The PARTITION BY LIST (expression) option is used to achieve this, where the expression is a column value or an expression based on a column value. An integer value is returned; then, using VALUES IN (values_list), where value_list is a comma-separated list of values, each partition is defined.
