When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Is MySQL the best solution for handling blobs?
It would vary based on the kind of blob (TINYBLOB/BLOB/MEDIUMBLOB/LONGBLOB) being used, as they vary on capacity, which is from 1 byte to approximately 4.3 GB. Because MySQL is definitely the best solution to any kind of blob, it would depend on the size of the table and how frequently it would be used.
For example, TINYBLOB/BLOB types of blobs with millions of rows would definitely be the best solution, whereas MEDIUMBLOB/LONGBLOB with millions of rows and frequent operations would definitely result in degraded performance. Moreover, table-related operations such as OPTIMIZE/ALTER type of operations have longer execution times due to the size of the table.
