Because MySQL is definitely the best solution to any kind of blob, it would depend on the size of the table and how frequently it would be used.
For example, TINYBLOB/BLOB types of blobs with millions of rows would definitely be the best solution, whereas MEDIUMBLOB/LONGBLOB with millions of rows and frequent operations would definitely result in degraded performance. Moreover, table-related operations such as OPTIMIZE/ALTER type of operations have longer execution times due to the size of the table.
