A company that specializes in smart cards had a MySQL performance problem, and here is its case study.
In short, the company has the following problems:
- 5,000% CPU usage
- 40-50% disk usage for MySQL temporary tables
- Queries pile up on top of each other
- There are some dead locks
The problems that this company faces are common to other companies that are in a phase of fast expansion, and unfortunately the people working for this company are overworked and do not know where to start to solve the problem.
The first thing we did was we changed some important parameters in the configuration, which were very basic to begin with.
We improved the performance by about 30%, so we now have this:
