MySQL partitioning is an option that improves performance, management, and maintenance, and also reduces the cost of storing large amounts of data.
Partitioning makes it possible to organize and subdivide tables, indexes, and smaller index tables. The impact of this partitioning will be that queries will access only a fraction of the data and will execute more quickly because there is less data to analyze.
In this section, we will cover the types of partitioning available in MySQL 8.0. There are two major forms of partitioning: horizontal and vertical, and an additional four types: range, list, hash, and key.
