Basic audio kit
The directional response of a microphone is an important factor in the choice of microphone on location to avoid or reduce unwanted background sound. As well as quality headsets (single and double-sided), a basic audio kit could include:
• |
a pair of radio mics; |
• |
a pair of condenser lapel microphones with clips or black gaffer tape for taping in place; |
• |
a dynamic stick microphone – reliable and versatile; |
• |
a short condenser rifle microphone which requires a shock mount, a foam wind-shield for interior use, a basket windshield for exteriors and a hairy cover for extreme wind conditions; |
• |
microphone clamps and stands; |
• |
XLR microphone cables and extensions; |
• |
balance transformer. |
