6 AWAKENING THE NEED FOR CHANGE
Introduction
A fundamental act of leadership is what Alvesson et al. (2017) refer to as “everyday reframing” or what Dilts (2003) calls “awakening”. This process, for example, may involve eliciting in leadership prospects an introspective mindset to identify behavioural, emotional and/or cognitive strategies and their associated beliefs and values that generate impoverished leadership styles and weaken follower/leadership engagement dynamics.
