How do we know if our learners have deepened their smarts? Wouldn’t it be great if we could peer into their brains before and after our attempts to transfer knowledge and see whether there’s a greater accumulation of decision-making ability, more mental patterns based on experience, and perhaps more emotional intelligence? But even the most sophisticated PET or fMRI imaging technology that illuminates and isolates brain activity can’t tell us that yet. Measuring the success of knowledge transfer is, like evaluating any other exchange among humans, tricky!
