BEFORE WE INTRODUCE you to the tools you might wish to use in transferring knowledge, we have to address some basic questions: Why would you spend resources on the transfer? What exactly do you need to transfer? And who must be involved? In our research and work in the field, we find that the answers to these questions can seem deceptively simple to managers. But these issues must be addressed with care before you will know which tools and techniques fit your particular situation. So let us turn to the first question: why transfer knowledge?
