The previous sections of this chapter should have given you a solid working knowledge of Linux and Linux forensics. In this section, we will explore some additional Linux forensics techniques you should consider.
As you know by now, it is important to thoroughly document your forensic examination. Doing so requires gathering a great deal of data. So, it will be important to know Linux commands that give you the information about a system you need to know. A good place to start is with the cat command. There are many variations of this command:
cat /etc/os-release
cat /etc/hostname
cat /etc/timezone
