5.1 Actions to address risks and opportunities (ISO 45001:2018, Clause 6.1)
An OHSMS based on ISO 45001 essentially follows the principle of the PDCA cycle of continual improvement. Planning is thus the first and the foremost task when establishing such a system. Planning is not a one-time or single event, it is an ongoing process that is able to review and revise itself with changing circumstances. Although ‘planning’ is an integral component of every OH&S process, this chapter deals with ‘planning’ to address the following issues:
•Identification of OH&S hazards;
•Determination of OH&S and other risks;
•Identification of OH&S opportunities; and
•Identification of legal and other requirements to which the organisation subscribes. ...
