ISO 45001 requires that OH&S objectives be established at appropriate functions and levels of an organisation. An organisation can set OH&S objectives to achieve a higher level of OH&S performance or to maintain an already achieved satisfactory level of performance. Once a department or a function achieves its defined OH&S objectives and no further opportunity for improvement can be identified, it is perfectly appropriate to set an objective simply to maintain the newly achieved performance level.
