It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
The process is done in three parts:
- Writing a number sequence definition class that registers our EDT in the number sequence framework
- Updating the parameter form so that we can maintain the new number sequence
- Integrating the service order form with the number sequence framework
The number sequence framework is not just a way to get a new number in a prescribed format. It also automatically handles what happens should the record not be saved, and what should happen if we delete a record.
