I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 3Prepare to Contribute
You’ve probably already figured out that contributing to free and open source isn’t quite as easy as slinging some code at a project. After all, if it were that easy, there wouldn’t be any need for this book. While the steps required for contribution can vary by project and by type of contribution, they generally follow this sort of progression:
- Realize you want to contribute
- Find a project
- Find a task
- Set up your environment
- Work on your contribution
- Submit your contribution
- Receive feedback and iterate on your contribution
- Contribution accepted!
- GOTO 1
