So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 9When It Goes Wrong
Contributing to free and open source software projects is not all sunshine, puppy dogs, and roses. Plenty of things can (and will) go wrong along the path toward contribution. Some of these things are technical, such as build errors, difficulty in setting up the development environment, or having to learn a new technology. But it’s more common for the roadblocks on that path to be human in nature, such as language barriers or hostile community members. In this chapter, we’ll have a look at some of the most common things that can go wrong when trying to contribute to FOSS projects, as well as some ways you can overcome or avoid those problems.
