Every project has tedious tasks that need to be done but no one really enjoys doing: data entry, data cleanup, small repetitive tasks, things like that. These are activities that don’t seem like a big deal but add up quickly…in good ways when the activities are completed, in bad ways when they’re neglected.
Tasks like these are excellent for people who are new to a FOSS project. As a new contributor, taking on this sort of task enables you to learn a lot about how the project is organized and operates, which can help when you’re making other types of contributions.
