us in IT to turn our collective noses up at them. When the CEO starts bringing
an officially proscribed iPad to board meetings, you know you’ve lost.
Yes, some companies still try to insist on the use of company-issued devices,
but most are adapting to a mixed world of user-contributed and company-
issued hardware and software. This is a massive pain for IT in the short and
medium term, but a useful goad toward where computing is really going in the
