1. To speed up collision detection (increasing TTC), we need centralized location of compu-

tations, reduction of number of vehicle pairs for collision detection by preselection method,

and knowledge base and learning of collision patterns, as discussed in the previous section.

2. To reduce the time needed to avoid collision (reducing TTA), we need accurate cost models

of TTA to achieve timely warning or command message and real-time communication

protocol. This is the purpose of the discussion in this section.
